I can think of another charismatic young man who brought new ideas to people hungry for them, and who also died young. Both men have gotten a fair amount of hype from chroniclers after their death, and their followings grew posthumously, perhaps based more on the hype than on what they did. The first guy in this case was a bit more of a rabble rouser than Mario, perhaps that and repression helped grow his message. He had a bit more in common with Dave Stoller in that regard.
None of you care, I imagine, but all this going on and on about Mario Confente makes me want to turn off my computer and go for a ride. Surely there are other interesting things to talk about? I feel the same way about people that go on and on about the other guy.
Riding has the unfortunate side effect of making me less sentimental about bikes, or perhaps it's for the best.
