They were guessing that the man was German, and in some ways they were probably right. I'd bet Sachs' people were German at some point (Sachs = Saxon).
Then there's my German friend who believes that Kraft Dinner is German food, not the American interpretation of fettucine Alfredo! Unlike Mr. Kraft, Confente improved upon the Italian original.
