Stupid question here.

So, the vinyl covers on the wheel guides were a CPSC requirement? Would this mean that a caliper set with block lettering, a flat quick-release lever... and the black clad guides would be a mis-match?

When did the QR levers change to the domed style?

Were all these changes concurrent modifications?

I'm almost sorry I even opened up this can of worms since there are so very small details to consider - such as the pivot bolt nut/washer styles... and the lettering around the bases of the pivot bolts,... etc.

No big concern for me really. Just curious about the chronology of all the minute variations I've seen on the 1970s brake calipers.
