Well, Charles, I've seen this happen with several cycling related auctions here on german eBay. Funny enough, it was always the same three bidders, bidding on one anothers auctions. One of these is not a member anymore, IIRC. I guess a seller lists an item and a friend, who perhaps is more knowledgeable, says "WHAT, that cheap?" and pops a bid to preven a loss of, in the case of the Pog, ca. $900. On the other hand, there are the true boneheads who don't know shingles from shinola. Then you have the people who are already watching 100 items in their ebay but just gotta keep tabs on this one. Ninconpoops, as well.
