As usual I'm behind on my c.r. reading, but I have a couple of comments on the Pogliaghi being discussed.

I agree with Charles that there was absolutely no point in the first bid, especially with the $350 BIN. This is a no brainer.

Also, I know that Pog. The Sultan bought the bike in original whole condition and stripped it, as he does many beautiful old original bikes. It's all about the might dollar for him. This Pog had so much beautiful character that it made me sad and angry to see it prostituted on e-bay. Yeah, the Sultan made a bunch of money on that frame, and I congratulate the lucky buyer, but that bike never should have been stripped and sold off piecemeal.

end of rant.

Ok. would someone here please explain to me why someone else would do something so completely stupid as to bid on a frame that valuable that had a buy-it-now that low? I. Do. Not. Get. It. That is so empty-headed it defies belief.

And if the bidder who didn't just buy-it-now is on this list, I apologize for my intemperate comment...but, dude, c'mon???? Why not just buy it??????!!!!!!!

Even if the hapless bidder didn't know what it was, exactly, the frame was so cheap, and so obviously nice, I dunno why you wouldn't buy it now just on principle. Someone blew the deal of the year there.

I've seen this before. And I have never understood what the hell is going on. Why don't these bidders just BUY the damned things????
