If you are looking for the movie to be a gripping drama, it is not. It is a G rated, made for TV, Disney film. I still liked it as it had some good race scenes and the story was good in my opinion. Sorry, no computer graphics or unbelievable stunts. Just a good family film with the normal good guy - bad guy theme. Some interesting crash scenes also.

I will most likely get and read the new book but the book written and sold by Major Taylor himself is pretty good. I have an original copy and have read it a few times. The writing is what you would expect of a bicycle racer. There are some story points but there is a lot of racing information and I was taken back by how many statistics he recalls in this book. He pretty much gives you a good description of each race that was memorable to him. I recommend it as it is his own account.

The original book is pretty rare and a signed copy is even rarer. He actually sold these books door to door to make money in his later years. Unfortunatly his glory days did not hold for the rest of his life. I don't want to spoil the end of his life story for those who will read it for the first time.
