Weinmann did have Rims produced in Belgium (and here in the USA but past the cutoff)

and my 2 cents on Campagnolo SPs. I had never had a bike with Campy SPs until recent times. So my early experiences were limited to Universal brakes (which we did hot rod with different pads etc-I remember Mafac working best-but this was way before Mathauser etc) but My college room mates were distance runners and Bikers and we would take turns running practice Marathons . Usually we ran to a fixed point and then would trade spots with those who had ridden their bikes (know as waterboys) and they would run the distance on the return leg. Since we all rode about the same frame size we often exchanged bikes (usually based on the availability of freshly patched spares) they both had full Campy bikes while I was using Universal 61s, So I often rode bikes that were not mine. It was easy to notice the Campys superior Modulation and accuracy. I want to point out I like Universals and made a point not to over tighten the levers which is why they broke.

Sheldon was an active poster for as long as I have been on CR. I talked to him for quite a while at the GSO while we were waiting to fly out after CIRC a couple years ago.
