I realize the recent thread on hands free riding is now exhausted. During the chatter, David Snyder mentioned a very important headset adjustment observation.

Hopefully, everyone on this list appreciates that you shouldn't adjust the headset bearings until AFTER the (internal wedge or expander) stem height and alignment task is complete. Likewise, the internal wedge/expander section should NOT fall in the immediate zone of the top or bottom bearing assemblies. This becomes even more important when the headtube is a shorty, as seen in 49cm framesets.

If this is obvious to all ... apologies for repointing ... but it struck me as an important construction/adjustment tip to highlight ... Thanks to David.
