Subject: [CR]Gnutti quick release skewers

Last week a pair of quick release skewers came my way that I have never

seen before and about which I have not been able to find any info on the net.

The levers are marked "Gnutti - Made Italy (sic!) - Lic Campagnolo" with an open C, if that counts. Several questions:

a) How old might these be? Fifties? When did Campag´s q/r licence expire?

b) Where can I find pictures of original nuts? The ones I have look doubtful to me. They are simple chromed, knurled round nuts for hand tightening without any loops, bolts, or whatever, but with a plastic self securing insert. (! PLEASE don´t send any pictures, my computer is on analog iternet and it takes ages to download large files.)

c) Would these have been used with Gnutti hubs alone or would they have

been sold as aftermarket additions, too? I´d love to put them on a contemporary Campag equipped bike as an extra attraction.

I expressly do not want to know how much they might fetch as I don´t

want to sell/trade anyway.

Thanks for your help.

Regards, Toni Theilmeier, Belm, Germany, where it´s been spring weather for days, only six weeks early.
