[CR]MA40 vs M2 clincher rims

Subject: [CR]MA40 vs M2 clincher rims

I have read these are identical except the MA 40 is dark grey anodized (like mine) and the M2 is clear anodized. Why is the MA40 preferred when the brakes visibly wear the edges of the Dk grey anodizing.
