Subject: [CR]Nick Z's Sachs Signature FS: thoughts on trips

Seeing the FS note (below) brought out a bit of nostalgia. It's not just that I've wanted a Red Sachs (the "other Sachs") for a long time, but really nice memories of riding with Nick on a visit to Atlanta a couple of years ago. we went out on a pair of Sachs, and just had a nice ride. On really nice bikes. Maybe I was on this one.

One of the special features of this list has been "introductions" to members elsewhere, the occasional opportunity to meet and ride with list members when travelling. That time it was Nick, and last month I was fortunate enough to meet and ride with Kim Klakow, in Berlin. One August, it was trying to find the Marin Co. start of a Freitas ride, when I happened to be out there. It only took about three cell phone calls to converge, and a great ride ensued. Chas. Andrews in Long Beach, with a another great bunch of characters. Having Sheldon Brown join a bunch of us for a DC area ride, thanks to Ken Sanford.

Sometimes, travel isn't so bad.

It's a good community, and ya'll come see us. Maybe at Cirque, eh?
