On this same topic....I have a pair of wheels in the rafters. They are the ones ridden by Audrey McElmury when she won the world road championship back in the late 60's (68 or 69, I believe). I bought them in 1978 from someone who she traded them to. I have not ridden them since. They do not have tires glued on, so I probably need to clean the rims well...but I don't know if I should try to ride these or just save them as relics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And...what are they worth? Do I need to insure these puppies? 28 hole Campy Hi-Lo Road hubs, 5 speed. Tied and soldered with double butted 15/16 Trois E'toille spokes Schereen Weltmeister wood-filled (tubular) rims...I think the 220 gram (or so) version...very light. Thanks in advance....
