I like building wheels. one thing i always try to do is to get the wheel in the stand with very little tension, then work on getting is straight and true at a really low tension, then when you start going around the wheel to bring it up to tension it pretty much holds the good shape. easier to turn the nipples under low tension too. it seems every time i've laced a wheel the tighter the spokes are before i start working on shape, the longer it actually takes to get it right...
