My name is Pat McHugh, a new member to CR. I live in Denver, Colorado, USA
and have been cycling for 5 years. I enjoy riding in our great mountains
and going for long distance. I have always enjoyed tinkering and restoring
old things thus last year I bought a 78 Schwinn Traveler. I fixed it up a
nd currently use it to commute to work. I found I really enjoy riding the
old, heavy, (by today standards) steel bikes. This weekend I picked up a F
lacon " designed by Ernie Clement" road bike. I plan to restore the bike b
ut need help. I was told by the seller that the bike was made in the 60's.
It has no markings other than the head badge and ser. # X28505 on the bot
tom bracket. It sports a mix of componetry, Weinmann, Suntour and Campy wi
th a B72 Brooks saddle. The saddle year is not stamped on the saddle frame
. By the poor condition of the saddle I suspect it is original to the bike
. I would like to find out what year it was made and what components were
original. Any information or resources would be much apprecitated. Pat Mc
Hugh, Denver.
