All...

CILO is not a persons name, but an acronym for the initials of the founder of the company back in the late 30's. His name was Charles Ian Lausanne Oronne (CILO). CILO sponsored several very successful Euro pro teams, and was the starting pro career of Higo "Pretty Boy" Koblet - who was the first non-Italian to win the Giro D'Italia. He also won the Grand Prix des Nations, defeating the great Coppi in 1951. Koblet won the Swiss championship every year from 1947 to 1954 (with teams CILO, and others).

CILO dissolved as an independent company by the early 70's, folding over into international conglomerates.

Later Cilo's are not that prized, maintaining a connection only in name with their halcyon years.

There are some great examples of CILO bikes on Speedbicycles.com including one of my own (1951 Piste).

Good luck on your bike.

Cilo Aufino was Swiss, the team colours were red/white/grey. Sponsored by Shimano, the end came when the entire team came down with the "blue flu". Cilo fired them all and that was it, or so i believe.

Shimano had an over-size magazine that featured them for a good while.

Wish I had kept mine.
