For female cyclists: I think we need to seriously consider Leontein van Moorsel who like Jeannie Longo competed in both Road and Track. I'd also trot out the patriotism and add Connie Carpenter to the list. The Men? all the usual suspects, maybe Wim van Est for surviving his 'little fall' in the Tour.
The person who 'Hot Rodded" the Wilier, goes a long way towards justifying the statement "Maybe, because it was explicitly listed, a collector will end up with that gorgeous frame, rather than it going to some "fixie"-seeking hoodlum with deep pockets. " but rest assured that not all Fixed gear riders take such a casual view of defacing a classic frame like that.
