On the flip side of that, is all of those pieces which were originally sold painted which we all stripped in order to have that natural pine look! Where is the patina gone as they would ask on the AR?
All of this seems to come down to the peculiar juxtaposition of fashion and utility. I am sure there were purists in the day who had kittens every time they saw a Campagnolo chainset subjected to the old drillium ... Brooks butchered ... handlebar drops shortened ... etc
