I just listed my Raleigh Grand Prix. It was cleaned top to bottom and I installed new cable and cable housing. Everything adjusted, all external points lubricated. I loved putting some mink oil on the old leather saddle. It soaked it up with a smile. Off shade touch up paint was removed so I could enjoy that nice original patina. So what there is some surface rust here and there!
A friend rode this bike in our clubs Ride of Silence, http://www.rideofsilence.org a memorial for cyclists that were killed during the last year. This blue Raleigh got more attention than the fancy carbon fiber and titanium bikes. My friend, who is 63, had a blast reliving his younger days on this bike.
I simply don't have enough room for all these bikes I keep coming across. Maybe someone in this group want's an old steel lugged bike for not a whole lot of money. It's worth a look just to see all the close-up images of some old heavy steel. I though it was interesting this bike has quick releases on both wheels. Also the Simplex Prestige derailleur was used on much higher bikes in the line.
