I see that Nagasawas, in particular, but also some Raleighs, featured BB shells that are slotted as many as 3-8 times, road as well as track frames.

Is there a down side to this -- does anyone believe that with a cast shell this results in noticeable flexibility?

Would like to read comments from Nagasawa owners in particular, but any riders of significantly cut BB shell bikes are good too..
