LIST Members: I just received a beautiful Nishiki Professional from Ted Ernst. This was a result of my query about having the BB of my ONP repaired. Outside of not comparing the Cracked BB of the ONP, there are some similarities that are striking but unusual differences. There is a link to one of the older Bicycle Magazine articles that give frame dimensions and angle. What is of particular interest when the comparison is made is the BB shell, the ONP is a stamped shell and the Professional is a cast shell. The seat stay juncture is about the same, as are the stays. The chain stay brace on the ONP shows more care and finesse in the execution. A major difference is in the drop-outs. The ONP has vertical d/o and the Professional has Campagnolo drop-outs. The Professional also has Campy braze-on BB cable guides and brazed TT cable guides. As the ONP is d.o.a. with the cracked BB shell, I will begin the rebuild process on the Professional with Campagnolo components. IF i can get a reasonable cost repair on the BB shell of the ONP, I will probably powder coat and build with all SUPERBE components.As both frames are hard to find in whatever size is YOUR size, I will probably opt for repair on the ONP Pro.
