I recently put Panaracer Pasella tires on what I call my racing bike (I have never raced and never intend to), but I don't like the way they look. They are size 700 25C which I feel is a little large for this frame, and the tread just doesn't look right on a non-touring bike in my opinion. I also feel the have more rolling risistance, but that could be my imagination.
Anyway, I can't seem to find any clinchers that to me look retro enough. I've gone back to the old tires which are Cycle-Pro Discoveries size 700 20C, and they seem just right, but are getting a little old. Any suggestions? The rims are Regina 1320s.
Pictures of the bike can be found on the Wool Jersey Gallery http:/www.wooljersey.com/gallery/david+l/ The album with the racing bike is at the end of Velo Le Chemineau album because I couldn't figure out how to make it separate from it. I hope that link works.
Back in the 80's I bought the frame on sale at Bike Nashbar. I had been wanting to build up an Italian racing bike with Campy components as I had never even ridden anything but touring style bikes, and this frame appealed to me because it was made from Columbus SL tubing, and looked good with chrome lugs, fork and stays. By the way, if anyone has an opinion as to who might have made these frames, I'd like to hear it. I already have one opinion (from Dale) which I like very much.
