Hello,
I was hoping that you might be able to help me identify this old track
bicycle. I have had it for a few years and it has been on display in this
paint-stripped condition at my local bike shop as part of their mini
museum. It is quite a conversation piece, but I would really like to find
out it's origin. I got it from a friend who found it in a co-workers
basement 10 years ago. It was spray painted Belgian flag colors (there is a
large contingency of Belgians in Detroit, perhaps the most outside of
Belgium) We here in the Detroit area have a rich cycling history... I have
heard tales of old racers Mike Walden and Claire Young heading out to Alma,
MI to buy wood rims from Lobdell, which is still around... in the auto parts
business nowadays. I am not a collector, but I am thinking about possibly
restoring this high performance machine, which has BSA components which are
in working condition. It would look great hanging next to my 1984 Olympic
Murray (Serrota) track bike which I do ride. I guess then I might be a
little bit of a collector...
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ,
Alex Stchekine
