Thanks to the CR Lists members who came out for the Dallas Vintage ride thi s morning. Think the total turn out was around 20 riders from CR, BikeForu ms.net and the Plano Bicycle Association club. Bikes ranged from 70's Hetc hins, Paramounts, my Gazelle, Raleighs up to early 90's Colnagos and Bianch is. I've posted photos of the bikes and some of the ride and riders on my WoolJersey gallery: http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/cuda2k/vintageride6 _08/

Over all we had a very good ride, though a bit windy on the last half of th e ride and it was getting plenty hot and would have felt much more humid if not for the strong wind. Next time I organize a ride, I'll do a better jo b of getting the rest stop closer to half way if not a little over half way through the route. It just ended up that the later 2/3 of the ride was mu ch more rural and thus made rest stop opportunities pretty much zero.

My newly built Gazelle rode very nicely. I did have the headset loosen up on my after the first half of the ride, something I need to fix this evenin g. Otherwise, it rode just wonderfully. The Brooks B-17 disappeared under me after a few miles of riding, though I will get some proofide on it very soon. The morning nearly looked as if the rain gods were going to smite m e for taking the bike out before treating the saddle.

There is already talk of an encore ride sooner or later. Perhaps it would be best to organize it in early fall, perhaps first part of October. Let t he worst of the Texas summer pass by and then get us all together for anoth er enjoyable ride.
