I have spent time in the past searching the archives of this group and atte nded the Cirque this past weekend and have decided to officially join the g roup.
My current interests are randonneuring, touring and classic lugged steel bi kes. In the family we currently have 5 Rivendell's and a lugged steel Bile nky tandem. Hopefully they qualify as keepers of the flame. After attendi ng Cirque and seeing the bikes that were shown I noticed there were few tou ring bikes on display. This has gotten me curious about early bike touring here in the USA and in France and England. I am looking forward to resear ching the history of touring bikes and when I have enough information would like to take on the restoration of both a pre war and post war touring bi ke. It would be a lot of fun to ride a vintage bike in the next PBP.
I met many interesting people at Cirque and can now put faces to many of th e names on this list. I look forward to reading the list and searching it for information related to my interests. In the future I hope I can share with the list any new information I uncover.
If any one can pass on the names of any books, articles or websites that co ntain information on touring during the 30's, 40's and 50's I would appreci ate hearing from you.
