I recently was given an old Peugeot bike sans wheels from an old friend who is very non-mechanically oriented and never liked fooling with the tubulars it came with. He picked it up at a yard sale. Upon investigation, it is a 1972 PX-10! The original f. der. was replaced w/a Suntour Edge, the pedals are both missing the dustcaps, and the paint is all hacked up (with a dent in the top tube).
I am interested in restoring this classic and would like to strip the frame and repaint. What would be your advice on how to strip the paint? Also, does anyone have a pair of Lyotard pedal dustcaps in their parts box? I am having a colleague of mine (French teacher) translate an email for me to send to Peugeot Cycles to see about replacement decals. I am hoping my friend still has the wheels somewhere. I have to wait 2 weeks until he returns from a missions trip to Costa Rica.
