Yes, I have experienced same. I luckily have an old set of Zeus cone wrenches that are narrow enough to fit. And by old, I mean they looked quite old when I acquired them in the late 70's. I have no recollection of where I got them. All others I've tried have been too fat. Not sure how helpful this bit of information will be, but there are wrenches out there that will work.
