Follis was widely viewed as being a "cut above" the high-volume French builders like Peogeot, Gitane, Motobecane and Mercier. There always seemed to be a few little details on a Follis that were nicer than the competition's equivalent model. Even my 1972 Follis 172, a couple of steps below the top model, is a very nice bike. Follis seemed to occupy a position midway between the large manufacturers and the constructeurs.

It will live at my in-laws' house in the South of France as a holiday bike. It was built in 1984, Maxicar hubs, chain-stay braze on rear light, Brooks saddle. A joy to ride. The tubing is listed as Columbus 6/10.
