I came back from England last week with a frame and rims packed in a used cardboard bike box, on USAir from London Heathrow via Philadelphia to Washington National. The USAir website clearly states $80 one-way to bring a bicycle as accompanied baggage (there is a minimum size for the box). No problems, except that none of our checked baggage made it onto our flight from Philadelphia. Everything was delivered safely to our door the next day, however.
