I've been in lurk mode and/or off the list for a few month, but started reading again recently. A few quick searches of the archives didn't turn up the answers I'm looking for (perhaps I asked it the wrong questions), so I thought I'd ask directly.
Most of my off-topic bikes that originally came with 27" wheels have been converted to 700c. But a few frames that recently came my way really deserve 27" wheels. Since I have several boxes of old hubs I figured I'd just build them myself, but it seems that there really isn't much to choose from. The following rims are readily available.
Alex X-404 (too wide and rather crude) Sun CR-18 and M-13II Weinmann RM-19 (this one seems to be the least modern looking of the bunch, but I've never seen one up close)
Any thoughts on the Sun and Weinmann rims for an on-topic bike, or are there others I'm missing? Please keep in mind that I'm not interested in "restoration", but rather maintaining the original functionality of the bikes. These are riders and most definitely not show pieces.
