Jerry, The Ideale 'Diagonale' was made in both Lady's and Gent's mod
els; as with most gender-specific saddles, the Lady's model is slightly
wider (say, 17cm., compared with 16cm.) and shorter (24cm., compared
with 27cm.) than the Gent's. Only the 'antik-look' versions, made after
the demise of Tron et Berthet, are gender-designated (92D & 92H), AFAIK
. As Dirk has already told you, these later saddles were probably made
by Lepper (or someone with access to their facilities), and the 92H's see
m to have disappeared from the market in the last two or three years; the
92D's still turn up in eBay auctions fairly frequently - witness the one t
hat I forwarded to you yesterday, with a carefully worded and (no doubt i
ntentionally) mis-leading description. Although these 'Diagonales' are pr
obably the most common of the 'antik-look' Ideales (along with the 75 model
), there are several other models which turn up from time to time - 134's
and 'Swallow-types', for instance. As has been said before, they're al
l of reasonable quality but, if you're looking for the 'real deal', you
need to be cautious. Anyway, if you're really keen to try one of these
92D's, I've got three or four (bought simply for research purposes, yo
u understand), and could easily be persuaded to sell you one - shipping f
rom U.K. would bump the cost up a bit, but not by quite as much as the fi
fty bucks that the eBay guy from Thailand was asking yesterday. Regards
