Tange was a major builder of forks in Japan which they supplied OEM to bike builders and also to the replacement market. I believe the basic Schwinn Continental fork was a Tange item (at least later) That Tange would supply forks with 531 or Columbus or Ishiwata does not surprise me. Many (and probably most) of the Japanese 'bike company's' were really assemblers who sourced frames, forks and components and did the assembly work. It would be interesting to know what % of the out put was of the 'private label' variety during the Boom years and beyond.
