1. It was not uncommon in the late seventies and early 80s to see 5 speed AND 6 speed freewheels on 126mm setups - WITHOUT any major chainline impact. I.e.,
there was no need for moving spacers around. (In summary, oftentimes it is not
necessary - sometimes it is...)
So is he really having a hard time understanding - or is he awaiting for you to
make a chainline impact justfication based upon your unique equipment?
2. You are the customer. Why do you have to be persuasive? Tell him what you
want done - if he won't do it - go somewhere else. It's your money assuming you are paying the person to do it.
...or were you just trying to generate an academic anal discussion because it's
