Richard,
The Austro-Daimler's I sold during that time period were purchased from Nyles Nims and his father who ran Moped's Midwest in Ames, Iowa. They brought in Puch mopeds from Austria, and the A-D's came as well.
The last time I drove down to pick up an order, they had English bikes as well. Holdsworth if my memory is correct. I remember walking down the street from their operation and walking into Michael Fatka's corner store and saw the many, many boxes of Campy on upper shelves behind the counter. The closest I ever got to that much campy I think, although I built, worked on a lot of campy when I worked in Missoula, Montana 75-77. The builder I worked for just came back from a 6 month apprenticeship at Geoffrey Butler in England. He brought back with him frames from Roberts, MKM, Flying Scot and others. We also sold a lot of Raleigh Pros, then some Campania bikes came from California with Phil Wood Hubs. My boss, John Schubert, took one of our Dennis Sparrow frames over to Sam Braxton, who promptly huffed that the head tube was crooked, and them threw it on his frame table in an effort to prove it was.
I didn't see conclusive proof one way of another whether that frame was crooked, but it was an interesting thing to witness and be around such personalities. but I still have a Sparrow touring frame he built for me with Columbus SP tubes. I used a TA triple crank, Campy NR brakes and Campy gran sport hubs with Weinman A124 rims. Rides great.
Back to the Austro Daimler: Nyles now runs the company that brings in all the Gm, Jeep, and many many other bikes for sale on Amazon, similar places.
The SE, does it have metal huret deraileurs and what kind of crank does it have? Is the original paint Red?
