Has anyone on CR (besides Tony Colegrave, who sent me the following) ever seen a JPR seat post, or know anything about them?
I received the following encouraging news from him after my CR inquiry about setback posts, but cannot locate any info on JPR as a brand so far.
>If you're interested, I've got a straight seatpost with a fair amount of setback (at least 2cm.); it's French (JPR - fluted alloy, probably from the 'seventies), >and therefore entirely suitable for an Ideale saddle (indeed, it's got the mouldering remains of a Model 90 attached to it at present), but you'll need to >consider the seat- tube I.D. of the frame with which you might want to use it - this seatpost is 26.2, which is a fairly common French frame size, I think, but >not too common elsewhere? > Regards, Tony.
If I have a frame that needs a 27.2 or a 26.4 post, are there good- quality shims that might work well with the 26.2 post to get my beloved Ideale alloy-rail saddle back on a bike?
Thanks to all the responses about cranks--I want to use a compact- style double European crank, if at all possible, and have more info to work with now.
