Subject: [CR]26 x 1 1/4" tire sources - Summary

Thanks to all those who helped, on- and off-list. Below is a summary of 26 x 1 1/4" tire sources:

26 x 1 1/4" tires were once popular in the UK These are equivalent to 32-597 or EA1 They are NOT the same as 26 x 1.25 In some cases Schwinn tyres labeled 26 x 1 3/8 (S6) will fit

SJS cycles in the UK carries Schalbe made tyres with black sidewalls see http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Schwalbe-Tyres-Schwalbe-HS130-all-Black-T yre-26-x-1-1-4-(32-597)-6884.htm

Jerry at memorylane has Taiwan-made tan sidewall as well as all-black in stock see http://www.memorylane-classics.com/Bike%20Parts/Tire%20Listing.htm This guy was REALLY HELPFUL and responsive!!!!!!!

Raleigh UK has this size (the photo shows tan sidewall but someone mentioned that they only stock all-black) See http://raleigh.co.uk/p_details.aspx?id=129

The concensus is that Taiwanese tires are "workmanlike" and that there is no high-quality production nowadays.

If anyone has anything to add, please let me know.
