Subject: [CR]Brazed on centre-pulls

i have a frame to which i was hoping to have added some brazed on pivots for mafac centre pulls. centre pulls for age appropriate around town riderbility. brazed on because i have been seduced by the look of the things. my local frame builder, barry witcomb, being of the old school was vaguely aware that the french had done this but knows no more. he's reluctant because the frame in question has pencil stays. he had initially thought i was talking about cantilevers and i could see that the lower position of those pivots could distort the stays, but i would have thought the centre pull pivots would be close enough to the brake bridge that this wouldn't be a problem. he was also concerned that the brazing heat would distort the very narrow section stays. i would have thought that the pivots could be silver soldered into place. perhaps he just doesn't want the hassle.

does anyone have any ideas?

also i'm looking for a source for the actual braze on. how different are they from canti studs?

thanks,
