I finally tracked down an Alan cross frame in my size earlier this summer, and have spent quite some time assembling the components. The idea was to make a bike that was fast and race-able (Alans did win lots of world championships, after all), but also to keep things as "classic" as possible. The result is a very light, race-ready bike, equipped mostly with on-topic Mavic components. (The hubs and headset might exceed the timeline by a few years.) The most modern concession is the crankset: the 46/34 Ritchey double was just too pratical to overlook.
Best news: it's very fun to ride!
