Caleb Hawley was hoping that someone could shed a little light on Liotto bikes.
Gene Portuesi supplied these to his top racers and, I believe, imported them. They were expensive bikes and were considered at least the equal of other more well known bikes of the period. I had one pass through my hands from Time Trialer and Cyclo-Pedia owner Kerry Irons a couple of years ago ( along with his wife's Assenmacher which went to Karen Rawls) , but because it was powder coated by now I sent it down to Lou Deeter for a nice bike his son could ride on campus without having to worry too much about.
Gene also outfitted his lower tier of racers with Doniselli bikes.I have one hanging in the garage as we speak from a lady who used to race for him.
I'm sure those who actually knew Gene (I never met the gentleman) could shed a bit more light on Liotto bikes.I do know that they were held in high regard, even though they are not well known now. Must not have been many imported.
