Coolio's,

I know some of you lug sniffers get off on owning a former pro's bike. That's cool ... not my scene (baby) but I understand. I think we shouldn't tut-tut those who have a penchance for this avenue of collecting because it benefits our bi-wheeled interests by preserving history and it bridges our fascination for the coolest machine ever to the pinnacle of sports development. So ... Respek you "big name" bike owners !!!! (just be careful to check out the provenance carefully)

Now, people who collect former Pro's shorts is another matter altogether. I see used shorts sell on ebay ... and they're just by :: regular :: people. Makes me scratch my head but I figure one man's bacon strip is another man's paradise. Sorry, I digress .....

Surely there must be a market for Pro Riders used shorts? You are buying DNA, no? I am not a fetishist, nor a sicko (sorry to all you fetishists) but I can imagine a pair of shorts formerly owned by Coppi or Merckx being worth a lot of money one day. That could well be the future of sports doping. I am sure Hinault's shorts would still be dripping wet. Couldn't we clone our favourite riders of all time and then send them into today's peleton to prove "our" point .... I mean we could supply the bikes. That would be cool. I'd pay for that :)

Gentleman, we have the technology.

Ciao,

p.s. I am not asking y'all to send me emails wishing to sell former Pro's shorts. Firstly, I wouldn't believe none of you, 2ndly my woman would burn the garage and shed, thus ending my "hobby" for good.
