I have a long cage Jubilee derailleur and it's not playing well with the large 32T sprocket. My French isn't very good but from this instruction sheet:

it looks like the the short cage model has a capacity for a 13-24 freewheel, 36/53 chainring and that the long cage capacity is 13-24 freewheel, 26/40/53 chainring. If that's right, then the long cage only increases your gear range on the smaller chainring, right? In other words, it doesn't let you use a bigger freewheel than the short cage does. Is that correct?
Has anyone here used a long cage Jubilee with anything larger than 24T? If so, what's the largest toot count it can safely / reasonably handle?
As a second order question...when did larger freewheel sprockets come along?
