Purportedly a 1963 Superior, and no reason the doubt that. Looks remarkably clean. At the current bid I'd say this is a bargain. One day to go. No connection to seller. I already have an all chrome 1962 Superior, plus this one looks to tall for me. If it were my size, I'd probably be keeping this to myself.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ When that bike was made, I was about to have my first 10-speed stolen. It was a Sears Ted Williams Sport Racing, with Campag Gran Sport, etc. In Houston, we didn't see 15-speed bikes, and this is the first time I've taken a while to really look at pictures of a Superior. I won't bid on it, much as I like its downmarket cousin the Super Sport, because I just don't have room in my heart for something that takes 1/2" pedals, or for converting it to 3-piece cranks.
So, it's an upgraded Super Sports, but there are a couple of nice differences: the Brooks Swallow, the Titan bar & stem (like the contemporary Paramounts, if memory serves), all the neat frame chrome, and the granny gear. But, it still was pretty heavy, and still had the Allvit derailleurs, which I regard as the only reason to choose Simplex plastic for bikes of that vintage.
But, sure is a nice example!
