After the success of the April Vintage ride that I had organized, and Oct ober's Picnic put on David Cheakas of Southwest Frameworks - I am intereste d in organizing a monthly ride based out of North Dallas for the area vinta ge cycling enthusiasts. Here's my current plans, however these may be tw eaked or wholly changed depending on feedback (and feedback is welcome).
Distance / Speed: 30-35mi @ 16mph average. Flat road riding speeds may ha ve periods of 18mph and/or planned "sprint" areas with corresponding regrou p points. It will be a NO drop ride.
Date: Second Sunday of each month, starting either February or March thro ugh October or November.
Time: may vary this depending on the time of year. right now 8 or 9am woul d be a good - as the summer heat returns we may opt for an earlier start ti me.
Who may attend: anyone with an on topic bike, KOF steel, generally old bike, etc. I'll even likely bring out my 86 Serotta which has been given the full modern group treatment from time to time so I certainly won't kic k you out for the same.
Start Location: still TBD, however I'm thinking N. Dallas or even up int o Plano for a start point. As with the ride last April, I'd like to get some quiet country roads in the mix. And yes, I plan to have at least a couple of route options so if we have a 25mph south wind again we won't hav e to deal with that in our face for the entire second half of the ride agai n.
