I have Hi-E skewers on a couple of Hi-E front wheels, but I'm a little suspicious of them on a rear wheel, not so much becasue of the weight, but because the odd little one-wing wing nut didn't seem to tighten them all that tight, so the chain might pull them loose on a rear wheel. On my Cuevas with newer style Hi-E hubs I used some modern antitheft skewers, Alexrodz, or something like that. They look somewhat similar to the old Hi-E, but hold the wheel, especially the rear, much more securely.

Some H-E designs were brillant, some just weird, but they were all interesting, although it might be fair to call the skewers dumb, at least for the rear wheel.
