Peter. I note that you are using a constructeur-type rear light mounted on the back of the seattube. Can you comment on whether it is practical to use such a light when a rear rack and rear panniers will be mounted? Doug Fattic is modifying for me a frame he had originally built some years ago, seems a similar project to this one of yours.

I had wanted to use a similar light on the back of the seattube, but it appears this light would be obscured by the rear brake caliper and the rear rack, especially as the frame has fastback stays, which forces the light to be mounted a bit lower. You bike pictured seems to have perhaps "semi-fastback" stays, so it might present the same problem to a sligtly lesser degree.

Are lights of this type best limited to bikes which a front rack and bag, but no rear? I suppose such a bike might better fits some definitions of "randonneur" in that a participant in an audax/randonneur event usually need a bag to carry some gear, but often a front bag alone is sufficient, whereas a "tourist" in the sense of one who makes a trip of several days, perhaps camping along the way, would frequently need to carry more gear, perhaps requiring a rear rack and panniers.
