This looks to be a rube goldberg setup. Makes no sense. The addition of two sprockets in the middle of the chainstay with the same diameter and tooth count (1:1) renders it useless not to mention the havoc it will play with the rear derailleur due to chain length restrictions. Looks like someone was just playing around. I cannot see any practical purpose.
