Krister, thanks for the insight about recent selling on eBay. I too sell a lot on eBay (non-bike stuff so far) and I have had extremely good luck with people receiving items (or at least practically no claims of non-receipt). I always wondered if having the postal receipt with the date, zip code/country, and weight WOULD count for anything at all, especially for overseas where practically no one opts for insurance. But I guess having the receipt won't count for anything? I thought PayPal was lightening up on that issue for sellers sending stuff overseas??? No??

The policy I use when selling within the USA, is that if the item value goes over about $25, I either require the buyer to buy insurance, or more often I bake it into the shipping charge when I list the item & tell them in the description it will be sent via insured mail.

Of course that does nothing for overseas shipments. It's apparently still a gamble. Ugh.
