Subject: [CR] Sixar cycles - Upminster, UK (Ian Briggs)

Hi Everyone,

Anyone out there know anything about Sixar frames?

Reason I ask is that there is a current fleabay UK auction running with one of their track frames on offer. See item 160312472164.

Not really interested on my own account in this item, nice though it is -?but happily it's unlikely to go to any of the fixie?poseur clan?as there as it's a pure track iron (no brake drillings in the bridge / crown).

However I did pick up a 531 touring frame by?Sixar some time ago - or at least I think it is 'cos there were the remnents of the head and seat tube decals still intact - but bizarrely with crude "Gillot" decals on the D/T?- but it's def' not one of those... My frame also does not have the "6" cutouts in the fork crown tops and head lug.

I meant to do some checking on the marque history then but never really got round to it and haven't been able to find out much in the iterim.

Nothing in the CR archive either.

Lloyds however can supply an aftermarket dryfix set of transfers -?so that's start...

Any info gratefully recieved - on or off list.
