Brilliant idea.

So I figure I would publish the results in case inquiring minds wanted to know:

Stainless - Softer than chromium, rust resistant, and better for bicycles with "lesser quality" races. The reason being that the bearings will wear faster than the races and are cheap to replace. Good for coastal folks and northern folks who are exposed to salt as well as MTB riders.

Chromium - Harder than Stainless. Will last longer. Campy spec. These are suitable for Campy and other high grade races that are hard and very smooth in nature and less subject to wear. Can rust.
