As I have owned and sold a few of these both when new (use to manage a shop near Boston back when that bike ruled the roost for sprinters) and now years later so I can say with certainty White vinyl panels with black letters. They would also have white paint in the Colnago stamps on the stays and clover on the brake bridge. White also in the fork crown, and clover in chrome HT/DT lug.
~~~~"I assume black on white panels, over the clearcoat."~~~~ To clarify here, those bikes where NEVER clearcoated. So I hope that if you repainted you went with single stage color, no clearcoat, if going for originality.
