Subject: [CR] VINER Fans: What have I got here?

Gang,I scored a great deal on a complete VINER that I found listed locall y last week. It was built up with off-topic Shimano 105 components, whic h I quickly swapped out for more appropriate NR Campy parts in "rider" shap e. Seemed like a perfect candidate for the aforementioned Cinelli "priest" /"Valencia" bars and voila: my perfect NYC summer townie. The frame itself h as some details that suggest perhaps it is not in it's original configurati on. It features the following build details: Reynolds 531 tubing. Short Campagnolo dropouts. 120mm rear spacing. Braze-on cable guides and shifter bosses. Over-the-BB (braze on) cable routing. 26.8 seatpost. Now here is where it gets weird: The rear bridge is for a nutted brake mount, the fr ont for a recessed mount. My suspicion that the fork is a replacement is s ubstantiated by the fact that the steerer tube is VERY short. Hatta "vesta " headset short. The fork has a chromed crown and has blades painted to ma tch the frame. So perhaps frame and fork were both re-painted at some poin t? Or perhaps she aint even a VINER??? All decals are not clear coated an d are flaking off probably as I type this. My question is, do these buil d details sound consistent with those found on other VINER frames? If so , frames of what years (late 70's? early 80's?)? Does a 531 Viner with a 26.8 seatpost diameter strike anyone as odd? Anybody have pics of VINER fork crowns to direct me to? Did I just fall victim to a New York hustle? Take a look at the pics I snapped this evening:http://www.wooljersey.com/g allery/v/Devotion/My_Bikes/VINER_1.jpg.htmlAny help/info is appreciated.Bes t,Matthew BowneBrooklyn, New York
